MP-3 Matrix Number...

I recently purchased many old records from the Division Street Corral dance hall estate, a very popular country western dance and music venue here in Portland from the 1940's - early 1970's, when it was turned into a flea market. That lasted until the early 2000's. Now it is a housing subdivision and the dance hall is gone. Lots of really cool country 78's and 33's in the group.

Here is an early 10" 33 1/3 rpm LP with 4 radio ads, c.1949, from this estate. It was used to promote the bands tour and was sent to the different tour venues and local radio stations. Contains 4 radio ads for the Maddox Brothers and Rose, a very popular country-hillbilly group credited with 'creating' rockabilly style music in the mid-1950's, but this was earlier in their career than that, back when they were still with 4 STAR RECORDS. They moved to CAPITOL RECORDS in 1951.

Anyway, the flip side of this record has 3 of the songs popular when this ad was promoted. Links to all the ads and songs are included above. Seems like the songs might have been played quite a bit over the years as the music side is worn and the ad side also shows wear and tear, though I don't think it was played too much.

And, yes, the matrix number actually shows MP-3. Way ahead of it's time.
